From the 1st grade all the way upto my 12th, its been a part of my overall being and will always be.

The story of St. Xavier’s School, Bokaro Steel City, began in the mid-1960s when Bokaro Steel City was being established as one of India’s major industrial centers. The city was in dire need of educational institutions to cater to the children of the employees working in the newly established steel plant and other industries. It was against this backdrop that the Jesuit Fathers from the Hazaribag Province of the Society of Jesus, known for their notable contribution to education worldwide, decided to set up a school.
The foundation of St. Xavier’s School was laid in 1965, in the spirit of the Jesuit motto, “Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam” (For the Greater Glory of God). The school was named after St. Francis Xavier, a pioneering Jesuit missionary known for his deep commitment to education and service. On July 18, 1966, the school was inaugurated.

The civic body recognized the need for a school in Bokaro Steel City to educate the children of its employees up to the higher secondary level, and hence decided to invite the Xaviers Hazaribagh Association to establish and operate such a school.
The school follows a house system, where Loyola, Carmel, Loreto, and Xavier houses compete against each other every year. Co-curricular activities offered include the Integrity Club (promoting integrity in society), Peace Club (promoting peace and harmony), Spectrum Club (fostering spoken English skills), Science Club, Interact Club (providing service opportunities), Sports Club (developing athletic skills), Eco Club (supporting ecological activities), Finomics Club (enhancing student knowledge of economics and finance), I.T. Club (dealing with modern technology and cyber crimes), Xavier Online (a creative writing quarterly), and the Social Service League (encouraging community outreach).
The school actively engages in charitable initiatives through its Social Service League. It provides education and prepares students for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Indian School Certificate (ISC) examinations. Additionally, the school has been a host for regional speech contests.
In December 2016, Xavier’s commemorated its Golden Jubilee, inviting participation and contributions from its global network of students. The alumni community maintains a strong connection through the Bokaro Old Xaverian Associations (BOXA).
